Circulation Service


Circulation service is a service provided for all registered members of MNU Library.

To Borrow from the Library

  • Obtain your student card (Student ID) from the Student Services.
  • Register at your respective Faculty/Centre Library. Please visit mnu.edu.mv/opac to register online.
  • Upon registration, you will receive a user name and password for accessing the libraries OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)

Please note that all material returned after the due date attracts an overdue fine. To avoid overdue fines please return the items on or before the due date stamped on the item.

Loan Durations

Borrower loan durations are as follows:-

General Loan

Academic Staff, PHD students & Council members can borrow 20 books for a semester.

Part-time lecturers can borrow 10 books for a semester.

Postgraduate and undergraduate students can borrow 10 books for 4 (four) weeks.

Diploma level, administrative staff, and Alumni members can borrow books for 4 (four) weeks.

Short Loan

Short loans are issued for 3 days for all the registered members

Restricted Loan

Restricted loans are issued for 3 hours for all the registered members

Closed Reserve

Closed reserve items are issued for 3 hours to be used within the Libraries for all the registered members

Overdue Fines
The library has a fines system for overdue items to ensure resources are available for all students.
Please note that the library is under no obligation to send reminder notices either by phone, e-mail or post.
Any borrower failing to return or renew borrowed library material by the due date shall be liable to pay a fine calculated on the following basis.

General Library MRF 2.00 per day for the first 5 days and   MRF 3.00per day afterward
short loan (SL) / CDs MRF 3.00 per day for the first 2 days and   MRF 5.00 per day afterward
Restricted loan (RL) &

Closed Reserve (CR)

MRF 3.00 per hour

 

Fines are calculated from the due date/time including holidays.
Please return library material on time to avoid overdue fines.
