Create a mind map

Mind mapping is a highly effective way of getting information in and out of your brain. Mind mapping is a creative and logical means of note-taking and note-making that literally “maps out” your ideas. It was created by Tony Buzan.

Use mind maps for every part of your life where you need to:

  • organize your thoughts /¬†tasks
  • solve problems
  • brainstorm new ideas
  • take notes
  • prepare and give presentations
  • assist memory & recall

What you need:

  • Blank paper
  • Colored pens and pencils
  • Your brain, and
  • Your imagination

Tips for creating a Mind Map:

  • Always start at the center of the blank paper because you are going to spread out as ideas flow
  • Use an image as your main idea
  • Use colors throughout
  • Add branches and sub branches spreading out¬†from the center, representing your idea
  • Keep your words simple, preferably, use keywords
  • Each separate word/idea/concept should have its own line
  • Use multiple colors for effect and to group ideas
  • Use symbols, images etc. in all parts of your mind map
